Why Should I try all the comparison sites?
Okay, you’ve got better things to do than shop for car insurance but if you can save £200 with one hours work it’s worth it.
The comparison sites are now really easy to use on mobiles so you can sit on the train, bus, toilet, waiting for the film to start on C4onDemand while getting insurance quotes.
Each comparison site has different insurance companies, some have their own brands which we’ve try to highlight in the table above to keep you informed. You will never know if you’ve got the best deal until you’ve tried them all.
Over the next few weeks, we’re going to be rating them and giving them a GBQuotes score, we’ll look at all the interesting parts and point out what we like and we don’t like.
How do comparison sites get paid? That’s easy, if you buy a policy through them, the insurance company or broker pays them…
Buying Car Insurance In The UK
In the UK, it is against the law to drive a car, van or truck without the bare minimum of insurance cover, known as third party insurance. Failure to have the right insurance could result in your car being seized and you facing a large fine. In the UK it is the person that is insured to drive the car not the car itself.
Of course, “third party” cover is the bare minimum and it’s likely you’ll want to extend this to include “fire and theft” cover or even “fully comprehensive”. In fact, fully comprehensive can often be cheaper!
Prices for car insurance vary greatly so it pays to shop around. The quickest way to obtain a large number of competitive quotes is to visit a comparison website. Just enter your details once and you’ll be presented with a variety of quotes based on those details.
