The Toyota Corolla is not perfect, but here are a few criticisms.
-
Performance and Power
Lack of Power: Some drivers think the Toyota Corolla’s engine performance could be better, especially compared to that of its rivals. However, it is perfectly adequate for city and private hire use. Transmission: The Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) can feel less responsive than traditional automatic transmissions, but it’s a solid, reliable automatic gearbox that is effortless to drive.
-
Interior Space and Comfort
Rear Seat Space: While the front seats are generally praised for their comfort, the rear seats can feel cramped for taller passengers; if you need something bigger, you can buy a Lexus or a Toyota Camry, but deals to buy these cars are few and far between.
-
Ride Quality
Firm Ride: Some reviews mention that the ride quality can be firm, especially with the sportier trims. This can result in a less comfortable ride over rough or uneven road surfaces. Drive on the road, and it’s fine, for the mean city streets of the UK; it is not an off-roader.

Infotainment System
User Interface: While the infotainment system is generally considered user-friendly, some users have noted that it can respond slowly. The graphics and interface may be less modern and intuitive than in some competing models. It’s dated, and my model didn’t have Apple Car Play or Andriod Auto. Sound Quality: The standard audio system is often critiqued for its average sound quality. Audiophiles or those who enjoy high-quality audio may find the sound system needs improvement compared to vehicles in the same class. It’s okay, but just a little below average of what we have come to expect.
